“Design of the Month” Winner – January, 2011
January’s “Design of the Month” comes from Elyse Santoro (Designer Website), who recently completed this beautiful, flowing master closet in a space previously occupied by an un-designed storage system. The previous configuration left dead spaces and used low-quality materials that were yellowing after only four years. Elyse was able to sit down and design the space around the natural flow of the closet and the surrounding rooms, creating a space in harmony with its dimensions and the rooms around it.
For the design, Elyse used our Florentine Rosewood from the Lago® collection, a wood veneer that is becoming increasingly popular because of its warm tone and classic look. She paired this material with our 5 Part Shaker Door Fronts and a Floor to Ceiling design with Crown Molding & Flip-up Doors to create a closet that maximizes the space available while matching the aesthetic of the house. Elyse also designed the closet to follow the angled wall of the closet so there was no wasted space, taking advantage of an area left dead in the previous un-designed closet.
To complete the look, Elyse used Matt Stainless Steel (139-4) handles and Brushed Suite (110-2) knobs.

When I took one look at their Master, I decided this closet deserved a beautiful, yet functional system that matched the rest of their elegant home. I designed it floor to ceiling with crown molding. Because they had a tall ceiling, I used flip-up doors to take advantage of that height for extra storage. But most importantly, I took the time to get the exact measurements necessary to connect those angled walls to give the room balance, and an aesthetic flow.

“Design of the Month” Winner – May 2010
California Closets has selected the “Design of the Month” Winner for May 2010 – The Ultimate Dressing Room, designed by Elyse Santoro of California Closets, takes the cake! This oversized walk in closet is shown in a Rustic Cherry finish with Polished Brass accents.
The walk-in closet was installed by Jason Elliot and Scott Hanson. It features an island complete with a marble countertop and two dressing benches for extra seating. Did we mention that it also houses over 100 pairs of shoes?

California Closets has selected the “Design of the Month” Winner for March 2010 – the Before & After makes this transformation a must see!
The beautiful, yet functional design of the Wine Pantry was completed by Ellen Gundersen, a Design Consultant for California Closets. It was installed by Brian Davenport and Ryan Betti.
AFTER: Ellen Gundersen (Design Consultant for California Closets) transformed the once cluttered storage room into a gorgeous wine bar and organized storage room! Ellen also left room for her client’s wine fridge and designed in great countertop space above it with more cubby wine storage above that.

BEFORE: a basement storage room that had just been collecting clutter for years. The family also had a great affinity for wine and entertaining and not a lot of space to do it in. Ellen Gundersen, a senior design consultant with California Closets, came to the rescue!

AFTER: This contemporary style design uses a combination of closed storage (to hide some of the old, but necessary clutter) with open, diverse wine bottle racks and countertop for mixing.
AFTER: The transformed room is design in a Roman Walnut finish and is accented with Umbrian Oak wine “x” inserts, stainless steel slide-out wine racks and hardware, and light rattan baskets.
